2023’s Hottest Collector Vehicles

Hottest-Collector-Cars-of-2023

In a world with ever increasing inflation, it’s never a shock when the price of things goes up. However, if you happen to be a classic car owner, this could be great news for you. Vehicles that previously retained a specific amount of value may see a considerable increase in 2023.

This is because younger buyers who seek out fast, stylish, and unique classic cars are reaching a more affordable plateau in their career life. This means, they’ve got extra money at this point in life, and want to spend it on something flashy, but something that also makes a statement and sets them apart from the rest of their generation. Something, like a classic or collector car.

The Top 10 Collector Cars in 2023

If you’ve been thinking about buying a collector vehicle lately, below is a good place to start your list of considerations. Alternately, if you are the proud owner of one of these vehicles, you may want to think about selling your car in 2023. As with their value going up and up, it might be the best time to sell your car for the most money in Metro Vancouver or the Fraser Valley.

If you’re considering selling, be sure to consider Cash For Cars BC. Your best choice to sell a car in the Lower Mainland.

10. 1985-1993 Saab 900 Turbo

Saab, known for being innovative, unique, and having its own electric style of quirk throughout its design, made the top ten list for 2023 of most sought-after collector vehicles. The 900 turbo models in particular were offers in a 3-door and 5-door body style.

With a 2.0 litre engine designed by Triumph, the motorcycle legend, and 135 horsepower, this vehicle was able to propel all 2700 pounds of car to 111mph, while maintaining a reasonable gas mileage of 19 mpg (12L/100km). It may not sound that impressive in today’s anti-gas guzzling society, but for its time and vehicle weight, this was impressive.

During an era that severely lacked reliability and fun in the automaking world, the Saab brought exactly that to the road for its consumers. With its soft suspension, many were surprised how much grab was offered to the road by this vehicle. “It always allows you to feel in complete control”, was the general consensus.

9. 1991 – 1998 Suzuki Cappuccino

This sporty right-hand drive minicar introduced by Suzuki in 1991 has made the cut this year. But you may find yourself asking, “how did this car make it on the top ten hottest cars list for 2023?”. Well, it’s one of a kind, and unlike anything else produced by Suzuki.

Originally designed to compete with the then new Mazda Miata during Japan’s brief minicar craze, this vehicle was unique among a sea of minicars, minitrucks, and even minivans. The vehicle was only 130 inches long, and just 55 inches wide, putting it 2 feet shorter than the Mazda Miata. Unlike most convertibles, the Cappuccino had a 3-panel aluminum roof that could make it a coupe, a T-top, a targa, or a full roadster.

The turbo charged 12-valve engine made this sporty little car fun to drive, despite its limited cabin space. Only 26,480 of these vehicles were produced, and very few of them made it to Canada and the US. This is part of why it’s become a highly coveted collector vehicle in North America.

8. 1968 – 1970 AMC AMX

The American Motors Corp in the 1960’2 was once on the verge of bankruptcy. However, after the introduction of the AMX in 1968, their sales quickly went on the upswing. With essentially a redesign of the previously known Javelin, many consumers were considering this 2-seater sporty muscle car.

The AMX had the same interior as the Javelin SST, but had a 97-inch wheelbase, a V-8 engine, and was available in 4 speed stick shift, or automatic transmission. The only other comparable 2-seater sports car at the time was the Corvette, and the AMX was roughly $2,000 cheaper (which is a lot for the time).

With a short production of these vehicles (19,134), each car has a production number plaque placed on their dashboard, which is not related to the VIN of the vehicle. The models produced in later years included air conditioning, high-back bucket seats, optional after-market spoilers, and power steering and brakes.

It may have never had a huge fan base like its rivals the Mustang and Camaro, but the collector’s market is definitely giving it a solid second long look as of late. Making it a worthy contender for the top ten collector vehicles of 2023.

7. 2004 – 2010 Mercedes – Benz SLR McLaren

Noted as the world’s most underappreciated hyper car, the SLR McLaren enters the top ten list of hottest collector cars for 2023. With a V-8, 617-horsepower engine, and 575lbs of torque, this sporty but stylish 5 speed automatic vehicle has officially become a collector’s car, despite it being less than 20 years old.

Although the car itself is on the smaller side, it is very much a muscle car. It has even been called a “German Viper” because the driving and seating positions are the same, with the driver sitting on the rear axle.

Only 3,500 of the 2004 vehicles were made, and only a stunning 2,157 were actually on record as being sold. However, despite the dismal sales, many people are on the hunt for one of them as of late. With later models having the trendy butterfly doors, many young buyers are looking to pay a pretty penny for any year of the SLR McLaren.

6. 1984 – 1988 Toyota Pickup 4X4 SR5

You may think these homely looking tiny pickups wouldn’t be a collector vehicle, but you’d be wrong. Not only does Toyota have a name for making quality, well-built, reliable vehicles, they have a name for making exceptional trucks. With newer models Tundra and Tacoma hitting the top ten list of best trucks every year, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the 4X4 SR5 made the top ten list of hottest collector vehicles in 2023.

For many young buyers wanting to get into the world of vintage 4X4’s, the SR5 is a great place to start. It is affordable and these trucks come in many different styles. One of the things making these so highly sought-after is the customizable features offered throughout the truck design. From interior design to the style of truck bed, consumers can select and customize their 4X4 in almost any way imaginable.

Despite this vehicle being from the 80’s, many features, parts, and components are still readily available on the internet for purchase. Between affordability, decent looking styles, and some serious off-road street credit, the SR5 is a must have for anyone looking for a solid vintage 4X4 vehicle in 2023.

5. 2001 – 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago

Who doesn’t love and want a Lamborghini? Almost no one. So, it comes as no surprise that the Lamborghini Murcielago hits 5th place on the top ten list of hottest collector vehicles in 2023. However, unexpectedly, it’s a little bit older models that young buyers are considering when thinking about purchasing a Lamborghini. Part of it is because it’s more affordable than a brand-new Lamborghini (because of financing fees, interest rates, etc).

With a 6.2 litre V-12, and 571 horsepower engine, it’s easy to see why the Lamborghini is known for being the ultimate status symbol. Between its unbelievable power and incredible design features (scissor doors, self-levitating air scoops, etc) owning one of any year reflects a certain level of success for most. It is no wonder why young successful millennials are seeking out their very own Murcielago in the past few years. The good news? If you own one, and are willing to sell, you’ll get a hefty payout for it.

4. 2003-2008 Nissan 350Z

This beautiful and speedy coupe made by Nissan has always had its share of the spotlight, and now is no different. When it was first launched, it was name Automobile of the Year by Automobile Magazine. Car and Driver also listed it in its 10 Best List. And now, it’s coming back to a new top ten list as #4 on the top ten hottest collector vehicles of 2023.

Part of what makes this vehicle so great, still to this day, is the fact that it comes in a variety of styles. Base model, Enthusiast, Performance, Touring, and Track versions were available to consumers. Making it a go-to car for any car enthusiast looking for style, speed, and practicality. It’s loaded with a 306-horsepower engine, and a 3.5 litre V-6, with either manual or automatic transmission.

The Nissan 350Z NISMO has had its fair share of track days and autocrosses, which is why car enthusiasts are so eager to own one. If you’ve got a Nissan 350Z of any model and year, we want to buy it. Contact Cash For Cars BC if you are the proud owner of one, and want to get the MOST cash for it.

3. 1936 – 1947 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead

It shouldn’t come as a shock that of the top ten list of hottest collector vehicles in 2023, Harley-Davidson makes the list. Coming in hot at #3, any motorcycle fan knows that a Harley is something most bike lovers yearn to own one day. With the 1936 – 1947 models of the Knucklehead now being a collector vehicle, this takes many aspirations to a higher level.

The majority of American motorcycle companies depleted shortly after World War II, but Harley-Davidson was one of the most victorious survivors of its era. With 3 options for the bike; the E, with 37 HP, the ES, created specifically for sidecar use, and the EL, with 40 HP, people had their choice of whatever motorcycle best suited their needs at the time.

In 1938, consumers opted for either the ES or the EL because the horsepower was higher, so Harley-Davidson just discontinued the E model altogether. This, in turn, has now made it the rarest and most desirable vehicle in the world today.

2. 1992 – 2006 AM General Hummer H1

One of the things that Hummer fans love so much about the H1 is the fact that the only thing digital on the entire vehicle, is the odometer. In a world that is so digitally forward focused, this incredibly analog military style vehicle keeps things simple. Not only that, it’s built to endure anything you put it through. Making it a 4X4 fans dream come true. Especially when you live in a province like British Columbia where you can truly put a vehicle like this through any and every test of the outdoors.

Despite the fact that it’s such a gas guzzler, and not exactly environmentally friendly, the H1 is a highly coveted vehicle because for many, it reflects superiority in both the automotive world, and in society.

If you’re lucky enough to own one specific year of the Civilian H1, you’ve won the automotive lottery. Only one specific year of this model produced came with a 6.5 litre turbodiesel, 195 HP engine, with 430lb of torque. This now makes it elusive for many 4X4 enthusiasts, who are will to pay big bucks to get their hands on one.

1. 2001-2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Sell-My-Car-Collector-Cars-2023

Leave it to the historically famous Chevy Corvette to take the #1 spot on the top ten list of hottest collector vehicles in 2023. Previous to the 2001 model of this Corvette, this sports car was always known for excellent handling, but a horrible road feel. However, with the introduction of the C5 Corvette Z06 in 2001, it’s redesign changed all that forever.

With better balance, rigidity, and overall performance, the 2001 Z06 changed the face of what consumers knew from Chevrolet. In fact, the Z06 has such a huge following, that Chevrolet has just released a new and redesigned Z06 this year. That means, having an original is going to be worth that much more. If you happen to own a 2001-2004 Corvette Z06, you should talk to our car buyers today. You’re sitting on a gold mine and probably didn’t even know it!
